These are films created at the California Institute of the Arts (or, CalArts.) Wickey's first year film, Down Into the Hear, was completed in 2015. His second-year film, Ray Bradbury's The Homecoming was released the night before Halloween, 2016, and was overseen by multiple-Emmy-winning screenwriter Bettina Bradbury, daughter of Ray Bradbury. The film has been accepted to numerous film festivals including the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, Oregon, and the Flint Fright FilmFest in Flint, Michigan, at which it won best film. Other films included here are The Leaf and the Rope, and Sleigh Bells Over Berlin, two first-year shorts created for classes. Wickey's fourth-year thesis film, an adaption of Nathaniel Hawthorne's The House of the Seven Gables, featuring beloved actor David Frankham, is currently contending at film festivals worldwide.
These are short animated sequences created by Ben Wickey for the upcoming documentary GOREY, about the mysterious writer and illustrator, Edward Gorey. Christopher Seufert chronicled the last four years of Gorey's life on Cape Cod, Massachusetts before his death in April of 2000. The short animations are all narrated by Gorey himself.
These videos have been re-edited from their theatrical appearance and uploaded onto YouTube via a partnership with TOPIC as a web series called Goreytelling.
